The Beast A heavy duty Setrab (www.setrab.com) cooler and a 6.5" SPAL fan was selected. Controlling the fan is temperature sensitive switch which operates from 140 to 280 degrees F. Russell lines and fittings connect the oil filter adapter, oil cooler and remote filter unit. The filter, a PH8A, is larger than the stock Toyota filter. In order to get the Setrab cooler to fit the right side vent opening, the original Toyota IC shroud was cut in half, a mounting plate fabricated, and the cooler mounted 3" inboard of the original right side IC mount. This moved the cooler away from the body and allowed the oil lines to clear. There is no thermostat used in this system. (10-06-01) I am looking into another location for the oil cooler. Because of the new RAWIC the extra heat added to the engine compartment by the oil cooler is becoming a problem. This will be a focal point for future study.
